Not bad for the price! Review by Lukasx123
As advertised, my "Warthog" was assembled in about an hour or so. I found the stock glue to be weak, so I used my own instead.
I would agree with many reviewers out there that state the "Warthog" is a good 'step-up' for folks with some flying experience, but new to EDF Jets as it has relatively decent-sized wings and is capable of cruising stably at slow speeds.
She's built quite solidly with a foam body which can handle a moderately rough landing. The wheels are a bit fragile though and will only work on smooth surfaces. I fly mine in a grass field, so I've removed the wheels and hand-launch it and belly-land it in long grass, which it seems to handle ok.
My one big gripe is that the stock battery doesn't seem to give enough power. I found her flying top speed to be slower than I expected, and without the necessary 'oomph' to maneuver sharply. However, after replacing the stock battery with a slightly more powerful one I can happily say it resolved the problem as the engines themselves pack plenty of power.
The A-10 isn't the fastest or most agile Jet, but it's great for cruising and swooping at low altitude, and I have so far been able to effortlessly perform rolls and also perform loops with slightly more effort. I've flown in 10mph winds without too many stability problems.
Pros:
*Stable for an EDF, even at slower speeds.
*Sturdy foam construction can take a 'reasonable' knock and handles belly-landings.
*Motors are reasonably powerful with the right battery behind them.
*Reasonably Acrobatic.
Cons:
*Puny wheels which restrict take-offs to asphalt, and probably won't withstand very heavy landings.
*Under-powered stock battery.
*Stock glue isn't very strong.
Bottom Line:
This is a fun jet to fly for someone who likes to cruise around at slower speeds and low altitudes, with the right battery it can pull of some acrobatics and move quite nimbly when pushed. It looks and sounds great, screeching through the sky like a "Tie-Fighter" out of Star Wars. My main gripe is that the stock battery isn't powerful enough, but if you're prepared to upgrade her a little, she can fly very nicely! :-) (Posted on 02/08/2010)
