Nitro Radio Controlled Boat Help.
For more help on nitro engines please see our nitro
radio controlled car help section which use the same engines and
settings etc.
Checks before use:
All hardware (exhaust and propellor) before and after each run.
May only make right turns so look out for this. If it does avoid
turning right or you may flip your boat.
If the boat has any leaks:
- Add window/door seal to cowl
- Use waterproof tape or transparent duct tape to seal up radio
box
- Change push rod seals
Engine wont start:
Check needle and change to factory settings if necessary
Dead glow plug
Flooded engine
Glow starter faulty
Engine starts, then dies:
Pressure line blocked
Reset needles to baseline settings
Improper needle settings
Engine starts for several minutes then cuts out:
Bad glow plug
Idle speed set too low
Overheated engine
Glow plug failed due to lean engine setting
Maintenance:
Check manifold screws as they will tend to come loose after vibration
Check propellor for damage and replace if chipped as this will affect
performance
Always wipe away fuel that may have spilled inside or onto the boat
If run in salt water rinse thoroughly with fresh water to avoid
rust
E nsure radio equipment is dry
Important to lubricate the drive shaft with silicone cable grease
after every two hours of use
